School Advisory Council Parent meeting dates for the 09-10 school year are as follows:
September 14, 2009              January 11, 2010
        October  29,2009                        February 8, 2010
        November 16, 2009                       March 15, 2010
December 10, 2009                       May 3, 2010

Minutes for the January 11th SAC meeting.

Meeting was called to order by Mrs. Williams
.
Sanney was taking minutes. Ms. Brull was translating.

We read the norms
Sanney did a brief explanation of SAC
Sanney and Wallace debriefed about Reading Bingo Night
William suggested having another Bingo night but to have the computer lab available for parents to access programs offered to students.
Attendance- Sanney explained that our 96% goal was not being met due to flu and weather issues as well as not being able to give out incentives.
Technology- Brull and Williams explained computer programs offered at school as well as on the internet.

*Brainchild will be available in 1 week
Williams suggested to increase REN place achievement, parents should be checking for books with stickers indicating REN place text and encourage them to go to the library and take tests.

Discuss new math series adoption for next year. (sanney)
Williams encouraged parents to attend vendor fairs to peruse materials being offered.  She also said she would send a flyer with dates and times.

Showed SIP plan and explained at next meeting goals will be revisited.
Weekly folders: Parent involvement money can be used to purchase the weekly folder.
 Targeted beginning date to be determined by access of money.
Parent: Ivellise Cruz mentioned at her daughter’s old school there was a similar system and she loved it but they were required to sign saying they saw it weekly.

At the end of the meeting during questions:
Sanney explained the tutoring available at Dickenson (ELP/ SES)
Williams mentioned that the computer programs we have available can help those who are unable to come to tutoring or don’t qualify.
Williams also reminded parents that there is a breakfast club at 7:30.
Sanney showed the school and county website. Williams said that Mr. L will be putting a link on the website for computer programs that are accessable at home (FCAT Explorer and I-station)
