WE DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
"A"
FOR THE THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR DICKENSON ELEMENTARY IS A SCHOOL DISTRICT OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY AND STATE OF FLORIDA "A" SCHOOL.
Vision Statement:
Dickenson Elementary School will be in the top 1% of Hillsborough County's elementary schools.
Mission Statement:
Dickenson Elementary will provide all students with the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Dickenson Elementary opened in 1963. The school was named for W.B. Dickenson, who was Superintendent of Schools for Hillsborough County from 1905 to 1909. Because the school is near the Bay, the dolphin was chosen as the mascot.
The colors are aquamarine and white. Additions to the school were constructed in 1987, 1992 and 2007.
A school beautification program was started in 2003. During 2003 a beach themed mural was painted from
floor to ceiling on all four walls of the Media Center. Also, an ocean adventure mural was painted on the wall outside the main office.
Flowers and trees were planted throughout the school grounds.
Several gathering areas with park benches, ponds and even a dolphin statue were created by local area Boy Scouts. During the summer of 2005 PTA donated plants to line the front walkways of the school.
Things are looking beautiful at Dickenson Elementary!
Dickenson Elementary has always prided itself on its outstanding reputation in the community and throughout the school district.
Faculty and Staff work together to create an engaging and challenging environment where all children can learn. Principal, Felicia Williams, focuses on continuing education for her staff and challenges the staff to incorporate innovative ideas and best practices into the classroom. Assistant Principal, Jenifer Neale arrived a few years ago and is a wonderful addition to the Dickenson Family.
The 2010 Census: Vital to Your Future
In March 2010, more than 130 million addresses across the nation will receive a census questionnaire. One of the shortest census forms in history, the 2010 Census questionnaire asks 10 questions and takes about 10 minutes to complete. Completing your census questionnaire is easy, important and safe, and your participation is essential to ensuring a brighter tomorrow for our community.
Required once every 10 years by the U.S. Constitution, the census will count every person living in the United States, both citizens and noncitizens. Census data are used to reapportion the U.S. House of Representatives, re-district each state and determine the distribution of the Electoral College. Census data also directly affect how more than $400 billion per year in federal funding is distributed to state, local and tribal governments. Most importantly, census data is critical in determining locations for new hospitals, improving schools, building new roads, expanding public transportation options and creating new maps for emergency responders.
By participating in the census, you can help create a better future for you and those important to you. Complete and return your form when it arrives. To learn more, visit www.census.gov/2010census/
